I have been involved in building construction since 1973. I started in residential, and in that world, I never saw or met an architect. Eventually, I moved into commercial construction—first as a technician, then later as a senior project manager. It was only then, on occasion, that I would glimpse an architect off in the distance, walking the job site with the owner.

Later, as I shifted disciplines—from system installation to design, and eventually to commissioning and functional testing—I finally began to meet them. I now work for architects directly.

For much of my career, the architect was absent from my awareness or appeared only distantly, silhouetted against the edge of the project. This is not a metaphor for my relationship to Source. It is a literal account of how distant the Architect of our very lives can seem.

But I stayed. I trained. I practiced. I applied. I kept showing up.

And now, in this life, because I have practiced, I work for the Architect. We all do. But some of us may only get glimpses.

In Jiu Jitsu, the gentle art works because the body’s intelligence already knows balance. My job is to get out of the way. My training isn’t to control, but to stop overriding the deeper intelligence, flow, Truth. There’s a kind of unseen blueprint guiding it all. I don’t always see it—but the thing is, you feel when you’re out of line with it. And it's effortless, gentle, persuasive, and good when you are aligned with it.
